FAQ Why is handmade soap better than store bought?
Store bought soaps contain detergents and are technically not classified as soap at all! true soap is simply an emulsification of oils and salt. Commercial soaps are usually not that. Those soaps also tend to be extremely drying and irritating to the skin. Reason being, the glycerine naturally occurring in soap is a profitable by-product. Instead of keeping the natural moisturizing qualities in the soap, these companies choose to sell its glycerine and leave the bar of soap with very little moisturizing properties. We think it’s best to leave soap in its naturally occurring, ultra-moisturizing state
What makes your soaps so good?
We don’t use any animal fats in our soap, they are vegan. Only high-quality oils are used. We make them scented with essential oils, no synthetic oils are used. In our handmade soaps there are no harsh detergents as you usually find in mass produced soaps, they retain all the glycerine. Not only do they smell great but they also lather up nicely and moisturize your skin.
How do you make soap?
In the simplest terms, soap is a type of salt. Soap is the end result of a chemical reaction mixing oils, lye and water. We use a cold process soap making method. The combination for the heat from the melted oils and the heat from the lye water provides all that is needed to saponify.
How long will my bar of handmade soap last?
Longer than you might think! We utilize ingredients that will make a firm, yet moisture packed bar of soap. Our bars are cured for a full 4-6 weeks so you’ll receive 100% pure soap, without any water weight! On average, each bar will last about a month with daily use. Remember to use a draining soap dish which will prevent soggy soap and will maximize its life span.
I have sensitive skin; can I use your handmade soap?
We highly recommend you try handmade soap. All our soaps have natural beneficial oils as well as glycerine to help moisturize your skin. We do not use any synthetic’s, dyes, preservatives or petroleum products in our products. Our process produces a very mild soap. We think you will notice the difference If you have any allergies, please read our ingredient list thoroughly. Some products DO feature ingredients such as milk, almond or essential oils. If you have any uncertainty, please feel free to contact us for clarification. If you experience any irritation, discontinue use right away!
What if my soap has imperfections?
Handcrafted soap is processed and cut by hand; thus, no two bars will exactly alike. Temperature can make colour appear slightly different from batch to batch, while design may also vary. Small pockets of air may form from a thick batter being poured. It does not affect the quality of the soap in the least! You may also witness “soda ash” which is a harmless powder-like substance that forms when new soap meets air or has a rapid drop in temperature. This will completely disappear during the soap’s first use.
Will the soaps or liquid soaps look the same every time I order?
Natural products have very slight variations in colour, aroma and/or texture from batch to batch. Settling and separation can and will occur. We recommend “shake lightly before use” instructions on all privately labelled bottled products. We always recommend using opaque bottles rather than transparent ones.
Does your soap contain lye?
True soap cannot be made without lye – Sodium hydroxide for hard soap and potassium hydroxide for liquid soaps. Technically speaking, soap is actually an alkali salt of a fatty acid. The salt is formed as a result of the chemical reaction between an alkali [lye] and an acid [fatty acids found in fats and oils]. When the lye solution and liquid are mixed with the fats and oils, the molecules of the alkali join with the molecules of the fatty acids and the final result is soap. The chemical process is complete and all lye is reacted out. This is referred to as Saponified oils.
Is your soap “Tearless”?
As in the case with all real soap, our soap is not “Tearless.” Care must be taken not to get in the eyes.
What is “cold process” soap?
Cold process soap is believed to be the best kind of soap for your skin and the planet. No alternative seems to offer the level of control and benefits that cold process soap does. It has been a household staple for centuries.

Can I use your soap to wash my hair?
Absolutely, YES! Our soaps are made with high percentages of Olive and Castor oils which provide wonderful conditioning for your hair and scalp. You’ll find it rinses out fast! Just as different people’s skin requires different levels of moisture, you’ll need to test out which of our soaps gives your hair the look and feel you want. Our regular recipe soaps are generally used as shampoo bars by people with oilier scalp and hair, whereas if you have drier hair, you’ll probably want to try a goat milk or shea butter soap.
How long does your Soap stay fresh?
Our soaps usually stay ‘good’ for years. In fact, the older a soap gets, the longer it will last when you finally combine it with water in your shower. However, time does affect the intensity of soap’s fragrance. For best fragrance, we recommend that you enjoy your soaps within six months of purchase. Remember that we don’t use any preservatives in our soaps, so protect them from humidity and extremes of heat and cold.
Do we take custom orders?
Of course! We do party or wedding favours. We are creative and very open to any requests. Drop us a line.
